We begin our autumn season by wetting the head of 'Shadow Shows of the Phantascope', the new dvd release by Birmingham moon-miners Pram (Domino records). The visual thing has always been really important to the band, from self-directed super8 antics in Moseley Park to their score for 'Keep In A Dry Place' (Bolex Brothers), right up to this year's elegant Beluga promo by Scott Johnston. (see below) They went down a storm at Sonar in July, and now they're back home to toast this comprehensive compendium of shorts, videos and long-buried live footage.
As well as showing assorted highlights we'll be airing some favourite Pram influences, and special guests Brian Duffy and Grandmaster Gareth will be grappling with the decks. The early part of the night will be more traditional 7inch with assorted shorts including 'Untitled Actress' by Rachel Marchant and the Brothers McLeod's new short 'Codswallop.
Later in the season: fabulous insect animation from Ladislas Starewicz, and swinging domesticity courtesy of Housewives' Choice.
