After the 50-events-at-once nonsense of Flatpack it is with some relief that we return to the womb-like comfort of Sunday nights at the Hare and Hounds. In case you've never been before, main ingredients include: about two hours worth of shorts, animation and archive odds&sods; musical interludes courtesy of a guest DJ or sometimes someone live; candles in glass jars; an informative programme handout; and pillaging the entire pub for seats about half an hour after start time. This month's lineup definitely shows signs of a Flatpack hangover, but that is no bad thing. It means you get to see shorts you might have missed during the festival itself, including kids cartoons, shit-scary Canadian horror There Are Monsters and David O'Reilly's excellent Please Say Something. There's also a good hour's worth of new music videos, and platters that matter from Jonny Costello (Bleep Bleep).
