A whole year after our last event here, 7inch returns to the Hare and Hounds for an evening of signs and wonders from around the corner and across the globe. As well as the usual short films and musical interludes we're very happy to welcome special guest Romana Schmalisch.
Romana is a Berlin-born artist with an interest in urbanism and the tradition of travelling film lecture shows. Inspired by an ingenious mini-cinema in 1938 film The New Moscow (dir: Alexander Medvedkin), she has created her own version of the device which combines a projector with semi-circular screen and black cloth. It forms the centre-piece for the Mobile Cinema show, with readings of specially commissioned texts and a selection of film pieces exploring railways, future cities and outer space.
