We're very happy to help see out Newcastle's inaugural Press Play Festival, a feisty ten-day spectacular also featuring ride-in movies, singalonga Bugsy Malone, the new Bad Seeds film by Jane Forsyth and Iain Pollard and a 'Half Murraython'. Eject is the closing party, and features a live set by People Like Us, a Warp Films showcase and guest DJs C Powers and PRMNT VIBES.
Our contribution will be built around the amazing work of Al Jarnow, a filmmaker (and painter, and sculptor, and software designer, and 'beach builder') best known for the mind-bending sequences he created for Sesame St in the 1970s. As well as selected highlights from Numero Group's excellent Jarnow DVD retrospective, we'll also be showing examples of some more recent work in a similarly playful, hand-made vein, and playing some tunes. The trailer below should help to whet your appetite...
