What The Future Sounded Like (dir: Matthew Bate)
UK premiere of an Australian documentary about the Electronic Music
Studios, formed by a group of pioneering musicians and boffins in the
late 60s who left an enduring legacy in the shape of the VC53, one of
Britain’s first and strangest synthesizers. The film also features
animated sequences by Ian Helliwell (see below).

The World of Ian Helliwell
A seasoned connoisseur of car-boot sales and a versatile filmmaker and
musician, Ian Helliwell has been reconfiguring super 8 film and dusty
old electronics for nearly twenty years. This evening he will be
presenting a whistle-stop tour of his hallucinatory short film work and
giving a live performance on the ‘Helli-Tron’.

KIPPLE = a word coined by Philip K. Dick to describe the ever-growing
tide of mental detritus swamping the world. Also the name given to the
output of artist duo Eagle and Feather, who will tonight be presenting
a specially-produced set of archive cut-ups and video offal.

A climactic meltdown of assorted clips, including sublime animated
doodles from Swedish outfit Ljudbilden & Piloten and mesmerising
