This summer, kids (and grown-ups) across the West Midands will have a chance to feast themselves on film. Inspired by the classic Saturday matinee experience, the Travelling Picture Show will be popping up in arts centres and community venues all over the region with a lorryload of shorts, animation and features from across the world. There will also be giveaways, activities and a chance to contribute to a special 'chain-film' called The Magic Box, with young filmmakers making a little bit of the animation at each stop along the way.
The Travelling Picture Show will run from June to September 2009, and is available for booking now. If you'd like to know more call Pip McKnight on 0121 771 1509 or write to pip[at]7inch.org.uk.
Lineup includes:
A herd (or is it a swarm?) of short cartoons featuring creatures of all shapes and sizes (suitable for ages 4 and up);
Weird and wonderful films from all over the world (suitable for ages 7 and up);
Lovely feature-length version of a Japanese TV show, featuring a cat who makes her own films;
One-day animation workshop led by facilitator Claire Evans, where you have a chance to contribute to a unique 'chain-film'.
Classic Oscar-winning tale of a boy and his balloon.
